2016 – Dream Child – Will

 Will Barkoskie is a third grader at Timberlin Creek Elementary School in St. Johns, Florida. He loves animals and going to the zoo, but his favorite animal is his dog, Max.  He loves to play with Legos and Playmobil. He is a honor roll student and is active in Cub Scouts and the theatre program at the Jewish Community Alliance. He wants to be a paramedic when he grows up
Will was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at age 2. Duchenne is a degenerative neuromuscular disease that primarily affects boys. The progressive muscle weakness leads to serious medical problems, particularly issues relating to the heart and lungs. Will lost the ability to walk in April of 2015 and participates in a variety of physical, occupational and aquatic therapies to help stave off the effects of the disease and being confined to his wheelchair. Despite the challenges, Will’s gentle spirit and positive attitude have not waned. 
Will adores his 2 younger sister, Caroline (6) and Olivia (3) and loves living so close to his grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
